Ketaki Chester was a cousin of King Birendra, and was present with her sister at the Naryanhiti Palace on 1 June 2001 when Crown Prince Dipendra killed nine members of his family, including himself. Ten years later, Chester reveals some new information about what happened on that fateful night including how Dipendra kicked his father as he lay dying.I was standing by the doorway of the billiard room with my sister, Jayanti, when Dipendra walked past dressed in combat fatigues and guns in both hands. Usually the Crown Prince would look around and acknowledge those present, this time I remember his eyes: they were very focused as if he was concentrating hard on something. I whispered to my sister, "Isn't he too old to be showing off those guns?" Even King Birendra thought his son had come to show him his weapons, but Dipendra let off a burst from the gun in his right hand. The bullets hit his father, wounding him. He said "Ke gareko?" before he slumped to the ground. Dipendra couldn't hold down the recoil because he had another firearm in his left hand, so the other bullets hit the ceiling.

Kumar Gorakh and Dr Rajiv Shahi were immediately at the fallen king's side to try to stem the blood pouring out. All of us also rushed to Birendra. That was when Dipendra came back the second time. Prince Dhirendra approached him and told him: "Pugyo Babu, you've done enough." Thinking that his uncle would try to disarm him, Dipendra shot Dhirendra. I think it was the realisation that he had just killed his favourite uncle that brought out the blood lust in Dipendra. He spun around and left the room, but when he returned for the third time he started spraying the whole room with bullets even as he entered the door.

By then, I was on the floor, trying to stop the blood pouring out of Dhirendra's wounds. His arms were on his chest, he was paralysed but conscious. Although himself grievously wounded, I remember him asking me if I was hit. It was then that I saw I was dripping blood. Bits of flesh from my left arm had fallen on Dhirendra's shirt, and two bullets had shattered my right shoulder. But there was no pain, the body in shock anaesthetizes you.

तिमीसँग मेरो पहिलो भेट मेरै माइती घरमा मेरो हात माग्न आएको दिन भएको थियो । कक्षा ८ मा पढ्दा पढ्दै विहे पछि पनि पढाउने कुरा सुनेर मेरा बाआमाले सहमति जनाएका थिए । मलाइ त्यो बेला विहे गर्न मन थिएन । तर के गर्नु म १७ वर्ष भैसकेको पीर मेरो बाआमालाइ निक्कै थियो । नभन्दै त्यसको महिना दिनमै म बेहुली भएर तिम्रो घरको आगनमा पहिलो पटक पाइला टेकेकी थिएँ । कहिल्यै नदेखेको , नभेटेको मान्छेसँग कसरी जिन्दगी बिताउने यस्तै तर्कना खेलिरहेको थियो मेरो मनमा ।
नयाँ ठाउँ, नयाँ मान्छे र नयाँ नाता जोडिएको थियो मसँग । नयाँ बुहारी यसो गर उसो गर भनेर तिम्री आमाले मलाई सिकाइरहनुभएको थियो । तर म भित्रिएको हप्ता दिन देखिनै किन हो आमाको व्यवहार बदलिएको जस्तो लाग्यो । कहिले यो भएन त कहिले त्यो भएन भन्दै मुख विगार्नुको कारण त मैले माइतीबाट दाइजो नल्याउनु पो रैछ अलि पछि थाहा पाएँ । गरिब माइती अलि अलि भएको सम्पति नि दिदीहरुको विहेमै सकिएको थियो ।
मैले तिम्रो मुख पनि राम्रोसँग देख्न पाइन । तिमी विहान ८ बजे उठ्दा म मेला पुगिसकेको हुन्थें । घर फर्किदा तिमी गाउँ डुल्न हिडिसकेका हुन्थेउ । बेलुकाको खाना खाने समयमा झुलुक्क अनुहार देखिन्थ्यो तिम्रो । म जुठा भाडा गरेर कोठा पुग्दा कहिले त निदाइ सकेका हुन्थेउ तिमी । यसरी नै तिमीलाई जति खेर यौन इच्छा लाग्यो जागेर कोट्याउन थाल्थेउ म भने तिम्रो लागि सदावहार तयार हुनुपथ्र्यो त्यहाँ मेरो भावनाको कुनै सुनुवाइ हुने ठाउँ नै थिएन ।
मैले बारम्बार अव पढ्न जान्छु भन्दा यो भन्दा पढेर के गर्नु ? मेरो छुट्टी सकिन लाग्यो ।विदेश गएर धेरै पैसा ल्याउँछु अनि तिमीलाइ पनि पसल खोलिदिउँला भन्दै फकाएका थियौ । मलाइ त पुर्ण विश्वास थियो । तिमीले मलाई धोका दिन सक्दैनौ भनेर । विहे गरेको ६ महिनामै तिमी कतार जादाँ जत्ति मिठो सपना सोचेकी थिएँ त्यो त केवल वालुवाको महल भएछ आखिर ।
विदेश गएको केही समय त तिमीले पनि फोन सम्पर्क गरेर आशु झर्दा सम्झाउने गरेका थियौ । तिमी विदेश गएपछि मैले घरमा पाएको दुःखको भकारी तिमीलाई यो पत्रवाट बुझाउन सायद सक्दिन होला । घरमा तिम्रो आमाको मन मैले कहिल्यै बुझाउन सकिन खै किन हो मलाइ देख्ने वित्तिकै उहाँको मुखमा रिसको बाढी उर्लेर आएको जस्तो लाग्थ्यो ।
जव तिमी विदेश गएको २ वर्षमा अव छिट्टै घर आउछु होला भनेको भोलिपल्ट देखी सम्पर्कविहिन भयौ, मेरो जिन्दगीको बाटो मोडियो । हुन त तिमी सम्पर्कमा भए पनि तिमीले मलाई एक पैसा पठाएनौ । जति खर्च पठाए पनि आमाले मलाइ लुगा धुने सावुन किन्ने बाहेक अरु कुनै पैसा दिनुभएन ।
बजारमा साथीहरुसँग भेट हुँदा ‘विदेशिकी स्वास्नी कत्ति लोभ गर्छेस् ? कति एउटै कुर्ता लगाएको यसपालि त बजारमा यस्तो फेसन आको छ, उस्तो फोन आको छ भन्दै उल्ली बिल्ली पार्दा उनीहरुलाई दिने कुनै जवाफ थिएन मसँग । दसैंमा एक जोर लुगा पाउने मेरो भागपनि तिमी सम्पर्कमा नआएदेखी खोसिएको थियो ।
आमाले बारम्बार तेरो लाग्नेले पैसा पठाए पो दिनु भन्दै झर्किन थालेपछि मैले कहिल्यै कुनै आश नै राखिन उहाँसँग । हुँदा हुँदा तिमी सम्पर्कमा नआएको पनि २ वर्ष बित्यो । गाउँघरमा कहिले आउँछ तिम्रो श्रीमान ? भन्दै सोध्नेको संख्या बाक्लिँदै थियो । म तिम्रो घरमा घरको कुकुर भन्दा पनि पल्लो स्तरको भए जस्तो ठान्थें ।
कुकुरलाई आमाले बोलाइ बोलाइ भात खान दिनु हुन्थ्यो तर मलाइ कहिल्यै खाए नखाएको सोध्नु भएन । झिकेर खान मन लागे खान्थें नलागे भाडामै बासी हुन्थ्यो । मैले बोलाए एकोहोरो बोल्नु हुन्थ्यो नत्र उहाँले खासै बोलाउनु भएन । पछिपछि खै किन हो मलाई देख्ने बित्तिकै फलानाकी स्वस्नी पोइल गइ रे भन्दै मलाई नै ब्याङग्यातत्मक ढङ्गले गाली गरे जस्तो लाग्थ्यो ।
तीजमा माइती जाँदा झण्डै दुई महिना बसेकी थिएँ । तर आमाले ‘घर गरेर खान नसकेर माइती बसी भन्छन, ज्वाइँ एक दिन त घर कसो नफर्केलान जा तेरो घर भनेकै तेरो लोग्नेको घर हो’ भन्नुहुन्थ्यो । आमाले यसो भन्दा साह्रै रुन मन लाग्थ्यो । घरमा सासुको व्यवहार सम्झे अनि माइतीको इज्जत पनि ।
फेरि भाइले आर्मीमा जागिर खान थालेको थियो । उ पनि घर आएको थियो । उसले भन्यो ‘घर जा बरु म २० हजार रुपैयाँ दिन्छु केही व्यपार गर ।’ आँसु पुछ्दै भाइलाई हुन्छ भनेर माइतीबाट बाटो लागेँ ।
साँझ परिसकेको थियो । घरमा आमा भात खाँदै र ससुरा बुवा भैंसीको थला तिर हुनुहुन्थ्यो । आमाले रिसाउँदै भन्नुभयो, ‘उतै बसेको भए भैहाल्थ्यो नि, जुन केटासँग हिमचिम छ उहीसँग बस ।’
मैले आमालाई सम्झाउने कोसिस गरें ‘के भन्नु भाको आमा, म माइतीबाट आउँदैछु कुन केटा सँग के छ र ?’ मैले आमालाई सम्झाउने कोसिस गरेपनि आमा झन जँगिनुभयो, ‘मुख नचला, जुन बाटो आको हो त्यही बाटो लाग ।’ तर ससुराले टाउको हल्लाउँदै कोठातिर जान इसारा गर्नुभयो । म कोठा लागेँ ।
तिमी सम्पर्कमा नआएको ६ वर्ष बितिसकेको थियो । मैले धेरै पटक तिमिलाई फोन गरें तर सम्पर्क हुन सकेन । भाइले दिएको २० हजार रुपैयाँ खाटमुनी टिनको बाक्सामा थियो । त्यो पैसाले के गर्ने कुनै योजना बनाएकै थिइनँ ।
जसको निम्ती मैले सबै त्यागेर आएको थिएँ उसको कुनै खवर छैन । तर गाउँघरमा आ–आफ्नै अड्कल काट्थे । कसैले उतै विहे गरेर बसेको होला । कसैले जेल परेको पो छ कि । अनि कसैले त मर्‍यो होला पनि भन्थे । तिम्रो बारेमा मात्रै अड्कल काट्दैनथे मलाई ‘तिमी पनि आफ्नो बाटो लाग’ भन्दै सुझाव पनि दिन्थे ।
आमाले भने मलाई रात दिन कचकच गर्नु हुन्थ्यो । घाँस काटेर आउँदा नि किन ढिला आइस कोसँग लागेकी छेस् ? मेलापातमा कसैसँग हाँसेबोले बेलुका घरमा बसिसक्नु हुन्नथ्यो । आमाको यस्तो ब्यबहारले मलाई दिक्क लागिसकेको थियो ।
मैले तिमीलाई खोज्न माइतीको दाइ कतार जादा फोटोपनि दिएको थिएँ । तर उहाँले केही पत्ता लाउन सक्नुभएन छ । म भने तिम्रो पर्खाइमा रात दिन रोएरै बिताइरहेको थिएँ । तर तिमी के कारणले सम्पर्कमा आएनौ मलाइ थाहा भएन ।
माइतबाट ल्याएको पैसा १५ दिन पछि हेर्दा थिएन । त्यो पैसाले आपतमा केहि गर्न सक्छु भन्ने आँट दिएको थियो । तर त्यो पनि हरायो । त्यसपछि त्यो घरमा बस्न मन लागेन । माइतपनि जान सकिन । काठमाडौंमा भएकी गाउँकै साथीकोमा गएँ । आखिर उही त थी जसले कहिलेकाहीं दुखेको घाउमा मल्हम लगाइदिन्थी । घरमा माइत जान्छु भनेर कानको मुन्द्रा बेचेर काठमाडाै‌ साथीकोमा गएँ ।
उसले गार्मेट कम्पनीमा काम खोजिदिएकी थिई । दिनभर काम गरेर साँझ उसकै कोठामा बस्थें । तर एउटै कोठामा बस्न साह्रै असहज लाग्थ्यो । उसले त कहिल्यै केही भनिन । तर म सँगै बस्दा उसको श्रीमान खुसी थिएन जस्तो लाग्यो ।
अनि काम गर्ने ठाउँ नजिकै कोठा भएको जानकारी गार्मेन्टका साइला ठेकेदारले गरेपछि मैले आफ्नो बसाई यता सारेको थिएँ । साइला पनि निकै सहयोगी थिए । काम गर्ने सिलसिलामै म निक्कै बिरामी भएको थिएँ । मेरो शरीरमा रगत कम भएर म मर्ने अवस्थामा पुग्दा पनि उनैले रगत दिएर मेरो ज्यान जोगाएका थिए । मेरो पेटमा पानी जमेर म धेरै दिन थला पर्दा मेरो ख्याल गर्नका लागि उनकी बहिनीलाई समेत गाउँबाट बोलाएका थिए ।
खै किन हो ! आफू बिरामी भएको खवर माइतीलाई पनि सुनाइन । काठमाडौंमा काम गर्न आएको खवर भने सुनाइसकेको थिएँ । बिरामी भएर उठेपछि पनि साइलाले अहिल्यै काम गर्नु पर्दैन । म पैसा दिन्छु । पछि काम गरेर तिर्दा हुन्छ भनेपछि झण्डै ३ महिना म काममा गइन । साँइलाले दैनिक फलफुल र औषधी लिएर आउँथे । मैले पनि आफ्नो विगतको बारेमा सवै कुरा सुनाएको थिएँ, र उनले पनि । उनको पनि कहानी मिल्दो जुल्दो रहेछ ।
उसले मलाई मन पराइसकेका रहेछन् । ‘म तिमीलाई माया गर्छु । के तिमी मसँग बिवाह गर्न राजी छौ ?’ भनेर सोधे । आखिर तिम्रो कुनै खुटखबर थिएन । तिम्रो घरमा पनि मलाई राम्रो गरेनन् । बस्न खान नदिएपछि आखिर तिम्रो घर छाडेर हिँडिसकेको थिएँ । यस्तो अवस्थामा मैले उसको प्रश्ताव स्वीकारें । अनि हामीले मन्दिरमा गएर दोस्रो पटक विवाह गर्‍यौं ।

त्यसपछि मलाई समाजले कुन नजरले हेर्छ मलाइ मतलव छैन । तिमी कहा छौ या छैनौ नि मलाई थाहा छैन । मैले तिमीलाई कुरेर करिव ७ वर्ष बिताएको थिएँ । तिमी आउने आश हराएपछि मैले खुसी खोज्न थालेको थिएँ । जुन खुसी साइलो ठेकदारसँगको नयाँ जीवनसँगै सुरुभयो । तिमीसँगको नाता सधैंका लागि तोडियो ।
अहिले म खुसी छु । र मलाई लाग्छ तिमीपनि दुःखी छैनौ होला ! सायद मेरो यो वाध्यतालाई समाजले आफ्नै हिसावले व्याख्या गरिसकेको होला । मलाई अर्को बिवाह गर भनेर उस्काउनेहरुले नै अहिले मेरो कुरा काटिरहेका होलान् । यस्तै बाध्यताले महिलाहरुले दोश्रो बिवाह गर्छन् तर समाजले त्यो बाध्यता बुझ्दैन, र खोज्दैन पनि । मात्र महिलाहरुलाई चरित्रहिन भन्दै फट्याईं ठान्छ । देख्छ पनि त्यहि । उनीहरुलाई मेरो भन्नु केहि छैन ।
भन्नु छ त तिमीलाई । तिमीसँग धेरै कुरा गर्न मन छ । प्रष्ट पार्न चाहान्छु मेरो वाध्यता । अनि थाहा पाउन मन छ तिमी एक्कासि हराउनुको रहस्य । तर अव म तिम्रो र तिमी मेरो रहेनौ । त्यसैले भेटेर यी सब कुरा सुनाउन संभव नभएपछि यो पत्रको सहारा लिएँ ।

काठमाडौं, २५ मंसिर । सत्तारुढ दल नेकपा माओवादी केन्द्रका नेता सुरेन्द्र जैसवालले संशोधन प्रस्ताव दुई तिहाईले पारित हुने ठोकुवा गरेका छन् ।

शनिबार रिपोर्टर्स क्लब नेपालले आयोजना गरेको साक्षात्कारमा बोल्दै उनले भने ‘यो प्रस्ताव जनताको हितमा भएकोले दुई तिहाईले पारित हुन्छ, यसमा कुनै दुई मत छैन ।’


उनले देशलाई निकास दिनको लागि पनि यो प्रस्ताव पारित गराउन सबै दलहरु मिलेर अघि बढ्नुको विकल्प नभएको स्पष्ट पारे ।

उनले प्रस्ताव पारित नभए प्रधानमन्त्री पुष्पकमल दाहाल ‘प्रचण्ड’ले नैतिकताको आधारमा राजीनामा दिने समेत जानकारी दिए । उनले भने- ‘प्रचण्डलाई पदको कुनै लोभ छैन, मोह छैन, उहाँलाई कुर्सीको मोह छैन भन्ने कुरा दुनियाँलाई थाहा छ ।’

Show creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the real life inspiration behind American Horror Story: Hotel in an interview with EW: "There was a surveillance video that went around two years ago that showed a girl getting into an elevator in a hotel that was said to be haunted … and she was never seen again."

Whoa... creepy. But what's great is that a bunch of fans have just punched the air after being proved right about their AHS: Cecil Hotel theories (including me, I'm stoked!)

Serial Killer Richard Ramirez was staying at the Cecil Hotel while he killed his victims, which in turn inspired copycat killer Jack Unterweger to visit the place to commit his crimes. The hotel has numerous strange suicides to its name, which is frightening enough in itself... but here's the real kicker. The American adaptation of Japanese horror Dark Water effectively draws on the terrifying case of Elisa Lam. Dahlia (Jennifer Connelly) and her daughter Cecilia (Ariel Gade) move into a new apartment, only to find black water leaking mysteriously from the ceiling.

She investigates the leak and discovers some horrifying facts about a young girl who drowned in the water tank. These events are clearly reminiscent of Elisa Lam's story, but the names of Connelly and Gade's characters confirm the setting:
